A volume with studies of Amy Bryzgel, Pavlina Morganová, Petra Stegmann, Maja Fowkes, Ivana Mance, Ileana Pintilie, Zora Rusinová and with reviews of Maciej Zdanowicz, Martin Sundberg, Marion F. Deshmukb and Stella Pelse.
Quatation from the Introduction by Amy Bryzgel and Pavlina Morganova:"While this collection of essays makes no claim to be a comprehensive survey of performance art in the region, neither geographically nor temporally, it does aim to fill a conspicuous hole in the study of the genre of performance art. By providing tightly focused articles that offer both an overview of the genre and in-depth stud of its key players in that country, we aim to avoid a superficial oversimplification that comes from having to cover a vast amount of material in a small amount of space. Performance art in Central and Eastern Europe can only be understood by mining the unique and individual social, political and artistic circumstances in each country in the region, which we hope will result in amore nuanced understanding of the genre on a regional, international and global level."
